Glassdoor came to Red Cup Agency with the idea of doing a podcast. We collaborated with their host and in-house producer to make two seasons of IN PURSUIT, the Podcast from Glassdoor. It drew attention to the brand and visits to their website.
Development :Same Same was originally intended to be a short-form interview style podcast. But its mandate, to cover the tech buzzwords of our day, becoming a dictionary for tech, demanded a deeper approach. The team always assumed that each episode would include two interviews conducted by the host, often recorded in different cities. The host traveled frequently, so we recorded him in London, New York, Santa Monica, and Portland. The guests were often in similarly far-flung cities. To tackle our topics, we soon realized, would require more than interviews. We needed a narrative form of storytelling, often practiced by NPR and podcasts like Serial. So we pivoted. Same Same became an immersive experience, with many music tracks, sound effects, even a few jokes. We leaned heavily into scripting, building a narrative arc for each episode, allowing time for the host to review and talk through all the material covered in each episode.
Rightbrainers is a podcast about tech and creativity from Z by HP that is produced by Giant Spoon, a global agency. Giant Spoon asked Red Cup to consult on the pocast. DevelopmentWhen Red Cup came on board, Giant Spoon had completed much of the development of this five-episode podcast. The host was in place, guests were scheduled, and the podcast format was decided. But would all that planning result in a great podcast? Red Cup worked with the Giant Spoon team to further develop and hone their existing ideas for show structure, scripting, pacing, and editing.ProductionRightbrainers was recorded 100% remotely. Guests were sent microphones in advance. An audio engineer participated (via Zoom) in every session to be sure audio quality remained high. Lee Schneider, as producer, attended all recording sessions (also using Zoom) to coach the host through the questions when needed, suggest re-asks of questions, and be sure that the narrative arc was preserved.Post-ProductionRed Cup edited all the session material into the podcast format the team had previously agreed upon, executing on Giant Spoon’s concept and meeting client expectations. PromotionWorking from scripts created by the Giant Spoon team, Red Cup crated three different audio trailers for the project: A teaser trailer to announce it followed by a sixty-second and thirty-second trailer to build the audience.
To effectively reach a wider audience, an environmental coalition hired Red Cup Agency to create a podcast series. The team runs the production process, working from the recording stage to post-production.Stakeholders have been impressed by Red Cup Agency’s work. The podcast landing page has been the most visited page on their website, and they’ve been learning more about the production process, thanks to the team’s help. Overall, the client praises their professionalism and approach to the project.
