A key initiative of this website redesign was to attract non-traditional users and increase the percentage/number of external users like outside students, partners, & companies. Increasing brand awareness and advocacy (i.e. donations) as well as educational awareness (i.e. class and educational offering sign-ups) amongst current and new users was the secondary goal. The launch included an enhanced Drupal version 8 CMS intended to empower the Alliance Theatre to update, curate, and archive web content. While the previous Alliance Theatre redesign from 2013 resulted in a steady increase of visitors, the goal was to take the success metrics to the next level with a focus on mobile device users. The new site aimed to increase both desktop and mobile user engagement (i.e. time on-site, page views, etc.) as well as improve the user experience. It was important to maintain cross-browser and mobile functionality to allow for users to locate offsite venues, purchase tickets and sign-up for classes & camps with ease.Notable New Features:Searchable performance productions with new “filters” to drill down Calendar date picker for easy date selection and checkout on mobile devicesCustom map on each production for dining/transportation guidance that was mobile friendlyCustomization for mapping venues that supports the offsite 2017-18 performance season will be repurposed for years to come when the Alliance returns to its home in the Woodruff Arts Center

Employing a youthful, yet intuitive navigation and integrating efficiency-improving tools, Cool Blue helped the AJFF increase ticket sales, engage a wider audience and to grow 100% over just 5 years. The Goal Cool Blue’s design team created an interface that was edgy enough to appeal to younger visitors, yet consistent and easily understandable for an older audience. Our development team successfully integrated a third-party ticketing solution with an elaborate Content Management System (CMS) framed in Drupal. This feature included a highly customized calendar that allowed film schedules to be updated easily and frequently. Cool Blue also ensured that one entry of a film’s information into the CMS would distribute the data to all possible schedule views, which provided consistency and manageability for the client. The Results Cool Blue successfully delivered all objectives on time to meet the client’s marketing drivers. As a result of the new and improved AJFF website, the 2009 festival experienced a 13.5% increase in ticket sales (14,138 to 16,051 tickets sold) when compared to sales in 2008. The “Print at Home” ticketing fulfillment option resulted in 85% of purchased tickets – reducing the labor-intensive “Will Call” system by 78% and providing considerable AJFF staff resource savings. As the film festival has grown in both offerings and attendance, Cool Blue has ensured its website has grown with it – and has continued to deliver success for AJFF.
