Atomic Form
Finding an opportunity to create new technology in support of the rise of NFTs and blockchain technology, the founders of Atomic Form hired our team to develop the hardware and software needed to creat two NFT art display devices, the supporting software, and our design / marketing services to create the branding backbone of the company. This required our engineers and developers to not only securely link the Atomic Form network directly to the blockchain, but also provide the ability to authenticate the NFTs and link them straightaway with the artist and the customer— all on two types of display devices. While the display is mostly managed through the web app, the devices are controllable through physical buttons for basic device function, programmed to automatically switch from portrait to landscape display mode, and optimized for low-power consumption. The Brash industrial designers crafted the actual casing design for both of the fully realised product, including supporting materials like custom cables, the spinning mount and anchoring for the wall. These required custom design work, and engineering / design for manufacturing when Atomic Form was ready for mass production, as well as our servces to source all components needed for the manufacturing and assembly, all necessary certification, logistics, and the sourcing of manufacturers and assembly houses needed for a seamless start-to-finish production run.

Inspired by activist movements, the founders at DOMONO saw an opportunity to create a product that not only facilitates filming viral videos but also provides a safety net to discretely record tense encounters or potentially dangerous situations. The founders approached Brash with their idea to build a phone case with a detachable camera incorporated into the case design that directly connects with a user’s cell phone. Project requirements on the hardware side included a removable recording device that clips on to your person, can also be set up on a flat surface, but still maintains a small form factor. To make this possible, our electronics engineers designed a custom PCB that integrates the camera module, host processor, and additional image signal processing electronics — facilitating the camera’s functionality and optimising the complicated circuitry. This was crucial in creating the smallest-sized camera without compromising on device performance, video quality, streaming capabilities and ensuring a long battery life. Our work with DOMONO is a true end-to-end experience that began with extensive market research, concept development, early-stage prototypes, and now centers on providing support and services in the late stages of product development and manufacturing— leading up to an official market launch in the not-so-distant future.
There’s a strong correlation between dental health, mental health, and our overall well-being. The founders at Otis partnered with Brash to expand their dental e-commerce company by creating a wellness mobile app to directly help people live better lives, reduce the impact of Bruxism, and improve their oral care and self-care routines.Mobile App with a Calm and Focused ExperienceThe mobile app we designed for Otis considers how to engage audiences without compromising the app’s focus— helping people set healthy routines using exercises, rewards, and progress tracking. Set up against a visual background that feels simple and calm, the planning and analysis of the UX required a lot of thought beyond functionality — incorporating the psychology of design needed to encourage users to set and maintain care goals without feeling shamed or overwhelmed by the app’s many features.Welcoming User Interface with Soft DesignThe UI we designed has an intentionally soft design language— featuring muted colours, rounded buttons, iconography, and a chosen font reflecting the same. Our designers carefully considered the curvatures of the letters, spacing, and the distinguishing lines and marks over the letters to remain minimal to maintain the user’s focus on the app’s purpose, improving their health in a safe digital space.
BreatheSuite, a startup out of Newfoundland, founded with the mission to increase the proper use of inhalers — as about 94% of inhalers are used incorrectly. We teamed up with the budding entrepreneurs at BreatheSuite to create an inhaler add-on that helps patients use their inhalers correctly. The add-on specifically focuses on developing a proper breathing technique and attaches to all different types of Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI).Partnering with BreatheSuite to create an effective medical device required a multi-pronged approach. In addition to designing the firmware, hardware and PCB to ensure proper function, improving battery life and developing advanced algorithms to enhance the machine’s learning capabilities, our team also developed a device that needed to comply with medical device standards and is compact enough to carry around for everyday use.BreatheSuite’s add-on also comes with enhanced usability andpersonalization through a paired mobile app that allows users to measure and track real-time usage and ongoing adherence of inhalers while improving technique. The mobile platform allows users, doctors and caregivers to track usage and easily integrates with electronic medical records.
